Look forward to an exciting day full of vibrant impressions and encounters as you experience the magic of Old Delhi up close. Your comfortable Vehicle will take you to the Jama Masjid, located just above the old city. The Jama Masjid offers a first glimpse of the sublime beauty and majestic splendor embodied by many sacred buildings in India. From here, your exploration begins on foot. Stroll leisurely through the alleyways as your guide shares stories and insights into daily life in the capital. You’ll quickly notice that the narrower the alley, the fewer travelers you encounter, and this is precisely what makes your time in Old Delhi so special, as you’ll be traveling in a small group. Make your way deeper into the labyrinth of alleyways and encounter women in colorful saris, rattling motor rickshaws alongside state-of-the-art electric vehicles.
Wander past fragrant food stalls, their enticing aromas of delicious spices and freshly prepared dishes tantalizing your senses. You’ll quickly forget the hustle and bustle of your arrival on the city’s main streets once you lose yourself in the narrow lanes of the old town. Take frequent short breaks to truly absorb the atmosphere.
Now you’ll switch from walking to a bicycle rickshaw and travel through the increasingly narrow streets to the Red Fort . It’s a remarkable historical landmark, renowned for its magnificent architecture, historical significance, and cultural diversity. Have your camera ready to take some memorable photos.
Leaving the old town, we head into the government district . Here, the streets become boulevards, and we make frequent stops, including at India Gate and the famous Mahatma Gandhi statue . Here, your tour guide will explain all the background information about Gandhi and India’s great independence movement.
Everywhere you go, you’ll encounter various religions like Hinduism and Islam in a wide variety of ways. Sikhism is also a significant religion in India. To learn more about this faith, visit the traditional Sikh temple Shri Bangla Sahib . Naturally, entering such a temple involves participating in some of the rituals of the worshippers, such as covering your head and washing your hands and feet. You’ll first enter a courtyard and then the inner temple area, which you’ll easily find by following the spiritual chants . Take your time and let the place and its spirituality wash over you. Afterward, your guide will show you a huge dining hall in an adjacent building where all worshippers and visitors are warmly welcomed and invited to a hot or cold meal. Experience the values and hospitality of the religion firsthand and learn in the communal kitchen how and why this free meal and this place of gathering are so important.
Just in time for the golden hour, a special photo opportunity awaits you: the Qutub Minar, a 12th-century victory tower and UNESCO World Heritage Site. After such an exciting start in bustling Delhi, you’ll return to your accommodation and look forward to some rest. Reflect on the impressions of your first day. Overnight in Delhi.
